Suryakumar Yadav, the T20I captain for India, shared a personal regret, stating that he missed the opportunity to play under the leadership of the legendary MS Dhoni.

Following India’s unbeaten Asia Cup win in Dubai last week, Suryakumar Yadav looked back on the missed opportunity of representing the national team under the legendary ‘Captain Cool’.

While Suryakumar Yadav has faced Dhoni in several Indian Premier League matches, he has always taken those opportunities to learn from the legendary captain by watching his on-field tactics closely.

“Firstly, I always hoped for a chance to play under his captaincy for India, but that never happened. Whenever I played against him, I always saw him behind the stumps. He has always been very calm. One key lesson I’ve learned from him is to remain composed in high-pressure situations. He observes everything around him, assesses the situation, and then makes his decision.”

Suryakumar Yadav’s international journey began under Virat Kohli’s captaincy in the 2021 series against England in Ahmedabad. Though he didn’t get the chance to bat in his first match, he quickly caught attention with his unique and fearless batting technique.
