WPL 2025: Gujarat giants defeated RCB by 6 wickets, Ashley Gardner’s great performance

Bengaluru, 27 February. In the 12th match of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, Gujarat giants defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets to register their second win in the tournament. In this match played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Gujarat won the toss and decided to bowl first and stopped RCB for 125 runs. After this, he achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 17 overs.

RCB started to bat first after losing the toss was disappointing. Three crucial wickets fell within 25 runs. Captain Smriti Mandhana (10 runs), Danny Wet (4 runs) and Alice Perry (zero) returned to the pavilion quickly. After this, Raghavi Bisht (22 runs) and Kanika Ahuja (33 runs) shared and took the score to 70 runs. In the final overs, Georgia Wareham (20 runs) and Kim Garth (14 runs) played the useful innings and brought the team to 125 runs.

Diandra Dotin and Tanuja Kanwar took 2–2 wickets for Gujarat, while Ashley Gardner and Kashvi Gautam took 1-1 wickets.

The Gujarat giants started chasing the target of 126 runs from RCB also started simple and three wickets fell within 66 runs. Captain Beth Muni (17 runs), Dayalan Hemlata (11 runs) and Harleen Deol (5 runs) were dismissed cheaply. After this, captain Ashley Gardner (58 runs) and Fib Litchfield (30 runs) batted brilliantly and led the team to win. Gardner shared a 51 -run partnership and brought Gujarat to a strong position. Although she was dismissed for 58 runs, Lichfield played an unbeaten innings of 30 runs and won Gujarat in the 17th over.

Renuka Thakur and Georgia Wareham took 2-2 wickets from RCB.
