Main point:

India won from the innings in the Indo-West Indies Test in Ahmedabad. Ravindra Jadeja made many records. Three batsmen of India scored centuries in a single day. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul’s scores were special. This test became a witness to many historical and unique figures.

Delhi: India-West Indies Test in Ahmedabad is a big record from India’s innings, but also some more new and special records:

Rabindra Jadeja’s lots of records:

  • Played his 50th Test in India and the 14th player to make these records.
  • Batting average in Test records 38.73 and the bowling average 25.07, which made the average of 13.66. Out of 70 players who have scored 1000 runs and 100 wickets in Tests, this difference for only 4 is more than Ravindra Jadeja (these 4: Gary Sobers, Jacks Kallis, Imran Khan and Keith Miller).
  • Ravindra Jadeja’s Test batting average Rahane, Murali Vijay and Dhoni were more than the famous batsman.
  • For the first time in career, more than 600 Test runs (659) in a year and that too at the age of 36.
  • In the domestic Tests, one of the last 4 dual century partnerships of India, one batsman, Ravindra Jadeja has been.
  • Only second Indians (first: Kapil Dev), who put 300+ Test wickets in Test cricket and 30 or more 50.
  • Ravindra Jadeja is born in Gujarat and out of his 6 Test centuries, now 3 are made in Gujarat (earlier: 100* against West Indies, Rajkot, 2018; 112* against England, Rajkot, 2024).
  • The 11th Player of the Match Award which is equal to Rahul Dravid in the Indian record and only Sachin Tendulkar (14) ahead. Of these 11, 10 have now been found in India and these counts were also new records (earlier with 9 awards Anil Kumble).

300 centuries in India:

For the first time in a Test match in India, 3 Indian batsmen made their 100 in the same day, their 100 in the same innings (overall, the second time and the record earlier this year with 100 of Gill, Washington and Jadeja 100 on the 5th day of the Old Trafford this year). By the way, in India with these three 100, India’s batsmen have now scored 301 centuries.

Domestic Test without Ashwin, Kohli or Rohit:

Nearly 15 years later, he played a Test in India in which there was no one of Ashwin, Kohli or Rohit in the team. The previous Test was played in November 2010.

Shubman’s exact score of 50:

The third batsman to record such entry in 50 balls of Shubman Gill and the score card (other two: Graham Gooch, Leeds 1988 and Tom Moody, Perth 1992).

Rahul’s exact score of 100:

  • KL Rahul was out on this score for the second time (record of Gordon Green’s, Kevin Peterson, Steve Waugh and Mark Waugh) and made exactly 100 Leonard Hutton (4 times) and Graeme Wood (3 times) exactly from them. Of these, KL Rahul is the first who was dismissed for a calendar twice a year (before: England, Lords, 2025).
  • Even more fun coincidence is that when KL Rahul was dismissed for 100 in July 2025, it was the 100th opportunity to dismiss someone 100. Now KL Rahul’s name has come to 101st opportunity.

Both 50 and 100 were made in an innings:

By the way, if you look at both these records i.e. 50 of Shubman and 100 of Rahul together, in the same Test innings, 50 of one player and 100 of the other, one for one team only for the second time. Earlier this record for India was made against England, Delhi in 1964 and then Budh Kundaran made 100 and ML Jayasimha made 50.

The funny thing is that if KL Rahul had played 3 balls and then it would be written in the record:
KL Rahul runs 100 off 200 balls
Shubman Gill 50 runs off 100 balls

The highest run in 11 innings as captain:

Shubman Gill, one of them whose names are at least 800 runs. Complete List: 1005 Don Bradman, 891 Alastair Cook, 883 Sunil Gavaskar, 822 Steve Smith and 804 Shubman Gill.
