India and West Indies kicked off the second and final Test of their series at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday. India remain unchanged from their dominant opening win, while West Indies shake up their lineup with two notable changes designed to bolster their batting and strike power.

West Indies ring the changes, India stick with winning formula

West Indies made two changes to their playing XI for this crucial fixture: Tevin Imlach comes in for Brandon King, providing a reliable player of spin and solid temperament on lower, slow tracks, while Anderson Phillip replaces Johann Layne, offering early strike potential with the new ball.

“I just think we need to stay positive, in the present, and just play every ball on merit and not worry about what’s happened before. Yeah, two changes from the King out and Johann Layne out, Tevim Imlach in and Anderson Phillip in,” said West Indies captain Roston Chase after losing the toss.

India, led by Shubman Gill, chose to bat first and fielded the same XI as their emphatic first Test win in Ahmedabad, stressing the importance of consistency and performance repetition.

“We will bat first, the wicket looks good to bat on Day 1. Consistency is the key for us. To be able to repeat performances and to be able to have the same intensity in every match that we play,” said Gill.
