A solid knock from Brooke Halliday and Sophie Devine helped New Zealand’s revival after an early collapse during the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 game against Bangladesh on October 10 at Guwahati.

Sophie Devine (63) and Brooke Halliday (69) went on to stitch a solid partnership as White Ferns scored 227 runs on Friday’s clash.

After choosing to bat first, New Zealand had a slow start as they lost openers, Georgia Plimmer and Suzie Bates, within the powerplay.

With Rabeya Khan bagged the wicket of Plimmer for 4 runs, Bates got dismissed for 29 runs on a run out.

With dismissal of Amelia Kerr for 1 run, Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday went on to stitch a partnership of 112 runs as the duo went on to smash fifty each.

Khatun got the breakthrough dismissing Brooke Halliday for 69 runs while Nishita went on to dismiss Devine for 63 runs.

Rabeya Khan went on to bag her third wicket, as Maddy Green sent back to dug out for 25 runs. Jess Kerr’s run out has further restricted run flow for New Zealand.

After Isabella Gaze’s dismissal for 12 runs, Lea Tahuhu made a small cameo scoring 12* runs helping New Zealand to post 227 runs in their innings.

Rabeya khan bagged three wickets for the side, while marufa akter, nahida akter, nishita akter nishi and fahima khatun end with 1 wicket each.

Speaking at the toss, Sophie Devine said, “We are gonna have a bat first today, it’s a used wicket so we want to have a first crack at it. We will back ourselves to put a total on the board and then defend it.”

“We have done some things right but we haven’t maintainted it for a long period. We want to be consistent with our bowling so we need to keep it simple. One change for us,” concluded Devine.

Meanwhile Nigar Sultana said, “We wanted to bowl first, our bowlers have been doing well in the first two games so we wanted to give them a freebie. It’s a very good opportunity for us, we want to play our A game here. We have two changes.”
