Alyssa Healy Setup Australia’s 3-Wicket Win Against India at Vizag

Australia’s captain Alyssa Healy went on to make a solid knock in a mammoth run chase against India in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 clash played on October 12 at Vizag.

She went on to add 142 runs on 107 deliveries, which included 21 fours and 3 sixes, helping set up a comfortable 3-wicket win for Australia.

By this win, Australia climbed back to the top position in the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 points table.

After being invited to bat first, Indian batters made a decent start but picked up the pace, smashing fours and sixes during the game.

Despite trying six bowling options, Australia couldn’t find an opening to require the necessary breakthrough.

The opener duo went on to score 58 runs in the powerplay and reached the 100 run mark in the 19th over. In the meantime, Smriti Mandhana went on to smash her fifty and looked well settled.

Pratika Rawal also followed Mandhana smashing her fifty as India crossed 150 run mark. Mandhana-Pratika Rawal teamed up to post 155 runs for the first wicket.

However, Smriti Mandhana got dismissed on Sophie Molineux’s delivery in the 25th over. She walked back to dugout on a frustration with 80 runs off 66 deliveries which included 9 fours and 3 sixes.

During the game she also become the first female cricketer to cross 1000 run mark in a calendar year. Mandhana also become the fastest to 5000 ODI runs via innings.

Harleen Deol who came to bat joined Pratika Rawal, further troubled Australian bowlers. With Pratika Rawal got dismissed for 75 runs by Annabel Sutherland, Harmanpreet Kaur kept the momentum, scoring 22 runs off 17 deliveries before being dismissed by Megan Schutt.

Molineux got her second wicket sending off Harleen Deol for 38 runs while Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh added 33 and 32 runs in the scoreboard helping the side to cross 300-run mark.

Amanjot Kaur went on to add 16 runs to the board before being dismissed by Gardner. In the 49th over, India lost wickets of Kranti Gaud and Shree Charani, scoring 330 runs in their 50 over innings.

Annabel Sutherland finished with 5 wickets while Sophie Molineux bagged three wickets in her spell. Megan Schutt and Ashleigh Gardner bagged 1 wicket each during their spells.

In the pursuit of chasing 331 runs, Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield opened the innings while Amanjot Kaur opened the bowling attack.

The opener duo made an impressive start as they stitched 85-run partnership for 1st wicket.

Shree Charani got the first breakthrough dismissing Litchfield for 40 runs. Ellyse Perry who joined Alyssa Healy for attack, went back to dugout after retired hurt for 32 runs.

India came back into game bagging the wickets of Beth Mooney and Annabel Sutherland for 4 and 0. Alyssa Healy went on to smash her century and Ash Gardner joined Healy to trouble Indian bowlers.

With Shree Charani getting a big breakthrough dismissing Alyssa Healy for 142 runs. Her knock included 21 fours and 3 sixes.

After Deepti Sharma bagged the wicket of Tahlia McGarth for 12 runs, Sophie went on to join Ash Gardner who is nearing fifty.

Amanjot Kaur dismissed Ash Gardner for 45 runs and Ellyse Perry walked back to continue her game. Amanjot went on to bag the wicket of Sophie Ecclestone for 18 runs.

With Kim Garth (14*) and Ellyse Perry (47*) Australia went on to complete the chase in the 49th over.

Austalia Women will play their next game against Bangladesh Women on October 16 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
