The cricketing stars Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra will be returning to action after being named in the New Zealand squad for the upcoming T20I series against England.
The England tour of New Zealand 2025 comprises three T20Is and as many ODI, which is set to begin this week.
Santner will resume leadership duties after recovering from abdominal surgery, while Rachin Ravindra is back from the facial injury that kept him out of the recent series against Australia.
Meanwhile Ben Sears who suffered a left hamstring injury last week, will miss the series and Kane Williamson is expected to be available for the three-match ODI series that follows.
“Kane had to overcome a minor medical issue in the past month, and we agreed he needs some more time to get himself physically ready to return,” head coach Rob Walter said.
“He’s obviously a world class player and we’re hoping these two weeks will ensure he’s ready for the ODIs against England and the following tour by West Indies.”
“Fresh from taking on Australia, it’s great to have another world-class team arrive on our shores. We know what an exciting brand of cricket Harry Brook and his T20 boys play, and I’m sure our guys are looking forward to meeting that challenge head on,” Walter added.
On the other hand, Finn Allen (foot), Adam Milne (ankle), Will O’Rourke (back), Glenn Phillips (groin), and Lockie Ferguson (hamstring) were all unavailable due to injury.
The pace attack has been bolstered with Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, and Jimmy Neesham.
Along with Santner, Mitchell Bracewell would lead the spin department, with experienced Ish Sodhi missing out.
The tour begins with T20I leg with the first match to be played on October 18 at Hagley Oval.
