Why is there an uproar regarding Virat Kohli's contract?Image Credit source: PTI
Virat Kohli RCB Contract: There is constant speculation, rumors and debate about the cricket future of Team India's star batsman Virat Kohli.
Different arguments are being given regarding whether Kohli will play in the World Cup 2027 or not. But amid all this, suddenly the market of rumors is hot regarding his IPL career and the reason for this is a contract. It has been told in a report that before IPL 2026, Kohli refused to sign a contract related to his franchise RCB. Due to this, rumors of his retirement from IPL have also started flying. But does this really mean this? Is this fear or uproar over Kohli's contract justified?RevSportz reporter Rohit Juglan had revealed in one of his videos that Virat Kohli had to renew a commercial contract before the new season of IPL. This contract was not related to his playing in IPL but was related to his franchise RCB. In such a situation, if Virat decided not to take it further, then it was bound to lead to speculations about his playing further in IPL and this is what happened.
But does not signing the contract mean that Kohli is ending his relationship with RCB? Or is Kohli completely retiring from IPL? At present, only Virat Kohli knows the real answer to these two questions, but the misunderstanding regarding this contract needs to be understood and former cricketer Aakash Chopra and sports presenter Tanay Tiwari explained it completely in their video.
Aakash Chopra posted a video on his YouTube channel and discussed the issue. He told that just because he did not re-sign a commercial contract does not mean that Kohli will not play IPL in future. He told that this contract is different from the playing contract of the player. He told that this could be a 'dual contract', which Kohli does not want to take forward from his side.
Akash also reminded Kohli of his promise, in which the former captain had said many times that as long as he plays in the IPL, he will play only for RCB. In such a situation, the question of Kohli going to any other franchise does not arise. What do the Virat Kohli reports suggest? Does it mean he won't play for RCB? Or is he retiring from the IPL?

Whereas Tanay Tiwari explained it a little further and gave some solace to Kohli fans. Tanay posted a video on his social media accounts and explained what a commercial contract means. He explained that under a commercial contract, if any franchise deals with any company for sponsorship, then it also includes that the players of the team will participate in advertisements and other programs of that company. This kind of deal happens with every player.
Kohli's case also seems to be similar. For example, if RCB's jersey is made by Puma company. Till a few months ago, Kohli was the brand ambassador of this company. In such a situation, he used to participate in the advertisements of this company along with the franchisee. But now he has joined another company, while RCB's agreement is still with PUMA. In such a situation, Kohli may refuse to extend his agreement with this company. Perhaps Kohli has refused to sign any similar commercial contract again and in such a situation it has nothing to do with his playing further in IPL.
