Yesterday, there was a huge cricketing debate going on on Social Media. The debate was on what’s the toughest record to beat amongst the highest individual scores in International Cricket in each of the 3 formats. The 3 scores were Brian Lara’s 400 in Tests, Rohit Sharma’s 264 in ODIs and Aaron Finch’s 172 in T20Is. As people kept their points forward and debated on what’s the toughest record to beat, one individual, who was one of the 3 record holders, couldn’t hold back from making his views clear. Aaron Finch, the former Australian skipper and former T20 World No. 1-ranked Batsman, replied to the avidly debated tweet and gave his answer.

“172”the Australian legend wrote. In what was a very modest response, according to Aaron Finch, his highest individual score of 172 in T20Is is the easiest to break. Maybe he was being honest, but maybe he was just being modest.

Nevertheless, his response got many people talking again. One user asked Aaron Finch, “In the era of hit and get out, you’d think your record would be broken?”. To which Finchy replied, “I’m pretty sure it’ll be broken at this T20 World Cup. There’ll be some really good batting wickets and the next generation’s power and skill are on another level.” Another user asked Finchy 3 batters who he thinks will break his record, to which Finch replied, “Abhishek Sharma, Travis head, Jos Buttler.”

Another fan tweeted in support of Aaron Finch, “How many Batsmen have even crossed 125 since your epic 172 ? For any batsmen to cross your score they need to be at the crease for a minimum of 80 balls. Don’t see that happening at all. Your record and Lara’s 400 will be the toughest to beat. Rohit’s won’t be easy to beat but looks the most likely one to be broken in maybe the next 20 years lol”

One cricket enthusiast went on to state who all have the capability to break Finch’s record in T20Is after talking about Mudler’s declaration on 367 that he did to keep the record with the legends. The user wrote, “Lara 400 bottle by Mulder for his shitty declaration. No one is coming close to Rohit Even after the decade. Finch 172 can break by Abhishek, Salt, Allen, Head only. Otherwise it’s highly Unreachable. for 1 more decade.”
