Chloe Tryon, Kapp’s Knocks Guides South Africa to 3-Wicket Victory Against Bangladesh

A solid knock from Chloe Tryon and Marizanne Kapp has guided South Africa to post a three-wicket victory against Bangladesh in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 at Vizag.

The duo went on to score 62 and 56 runs respectively to guide a thrilling victory against Bangladesh. By this win South Africa jumped to 3rd position in the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 points table.

Batting first, Fargana Hoque and Rubya Haider opened the innings while Marizanne Kapp opened the bowling attack. Despite starting slow, Hoque and Rubya Haider copped up 53 runs for the first wicket.

With Haider’s dismissal for 25 runs by Chloe Tryon, Sharmin Akter came to bat alongside  Fargana Hoque.

South Africa did reduced Bangladesh’s scoring ways and picked the wicket of Hoque for 30 runs in the 25th over.

However, Nigar Sultana came and joined Sharmin to score 32 runs before got dismissed by Mlaba.

In meantime Sharmin Akter scored 50 runs and went back to dug out after a run out. Despite Sobhana Mostary, Rabeya Khan’s cheap dismissal, Shorna Akter went on to bat along with Ritu Moni helping the side to breach 200 run mark.

Shorna Akter went on to score unbeaten 51 runs off 35 deliveries helping Bangladesh to post 232 runs in their 50 over innings. Ritu Moni remained unbeaten 19* runs along side during their innings.

Mlaba picked two wickets while Nadine de Klerk and Chloe Tryon picked 1 wicket each.

Chasing 233 runs, Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt opened the innings while Marufa Akter opened the attack.

Nahida Akter got the first breakthrough dismissing Brits on a golden duck. Anneke Bosch joined Wolvaart to score 39 runs in the powerplay.

However, Wolvaardt’s run out for 31 runs gave a solid grip for Bangladesh in the game and went on to dismiss Anneke Bosch for 28 runs and Annerie Decekersen for 2 runs.

With Sinalo Jafta’s dismissal, South Africa tattered with 5 wickets for 78 runs. However, a solid fifties from Marizanne Kapp and Chloe Tryon went on to stabilise the innings and helped the side march towards victory.

Kapp scored 56 runs while Tryon scored 62 runs before being dismissed by Nahida Akter and on a run out.

Nadine de Klerk and Klaas went on to take the innings on their hands scoring unbeaten 37* and 10* runs respectively and helped the side to successfully complete the chase in the last over.

Nahida Akter picked two wickets while Rabeya Khan, Fahima Khatun and Ritu Moni bagged one wicket each.

South Africa women will play their next game against Sri Lanka on October 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
