New Delhi, 13 October (Read News). The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Monday organized a special felicitation ceremony for the Indian players who won medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics at the Taj Man Singh Hotel in Delhi. In this program, IOA President Dr. P.T. Usha, Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, senior government officials, sponsors and prominent personalities from the sports world were present.
At the ceremony, those players of India were honored who made the country proud in the Paris 2024 Olympics. This time India won a total of six medals in the Olympics, of which one was silver and five were bronze.
Neraj Chopra repeated his Tokyo Olympic success by winning a silver medal in javelin throw, while shooter Manu Bhakar won two bronze medals with Sarabjot Singh in the women’s 10m air pistol and mixed team event. Shooter Swapnil Kusele won bronze medal in men’s 50m rifle 3 positions. Young wrestler Aman Sehrawat registered his name among India’s youngest Olympic medalists by winning the bronze medal in men’s freestyle 57 kg. At the same time, the Indian men’s hockey team returned after winning the bronze medal by defeating Spain 2-1 in the third place match.
At the ceremony, IOA honored all the medal winners and their coaches with cash awards. Neraj Chopra was given ₹75 lakh, Manu Bhaker was given ₹50 lakh and ₹37.5 lakh, Sarabjot Singh was given ₹37.5 lakh, Swapnil Kusele and Aman Sehrawat were given ₹50 lakh, while the men’s hockey team was given ₹10 lakh for the main players and ₹5 lakh for the reserve players. His coaches Dr. Klaus Erich Bartonietz, Jaspal Rana, Abhishek Rana, Deepali Deshpande, Ali Shabanov and Craig Fulton were also honored for their significant contributions.
Dr. P.T. Usha said, “I heartily congratulate all our medal winners. Your achievements have given immense pride and joy to the country. You are a symbol of the dedication, grit and limitless potential of the Indian youth. The efforts and courage of those who did not win medals also inspire us.”
The event was concluded by IOA CEO Raghuram Iyer and he thanked all the distinguished guests, sports federations, sponsors and the Indian public for their support.
