Delhi: Even though Kuldeep Yadav bowled brilliantly in the two-Test series against West Indies, Team India’s experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was chosen as the ‘Player of the Series’. Jadeja scored a century and also took eight wickets with the ball. He bowled at an average of 27.13 and also took four wickets in the first Test.
Increased responsibility after Ashwin’s retirement
Jadeja said that now he is getting a chance to bowl more in home conditions because Ravichandran Ashwin has retired from Test cricket. He also praised the current cricket style of the team and said that the brand of cricket that India is playing in the last five-six months is praiseworthy.
Gambhir gave confidence in batting
Ravindra Jadeja thanked head coach Gautam Gambhir for sending him up the batting order. He said that now his mindset has changed due to batting at number 6. Earlier he used to come at number 8 or 9, but now he thinks of himself as a ‘proper batsman’.
The aim is to play to win, not records.
Jadeja made it clear that he does not think much about records. His entire focus is on making the team win with both bat and ball. He said that if he did not perform well in both the departments, he would not have been valued. The ‘Man of the Series’ award received in this series is his third and he is very happy for it.
South Africa Test Series
Ravindra Jadeja is not included in the ODI team announced for Australia tour. Now he will once again be seen on the field against South Africa in the two-Test series starting from November 14.
