NEW DELHI: Following India’s 2-0 victory over the West Indies in the two-match Test series, pacer Mohammed Siraj was awarded the impact player of the series for his key contributions with the ball. His disciplined spells on challenging surfaces played a major role in India’s win.

In a video posted by BCCI TV, Siraj spoke about the difficulty of bowling on the Delhi pitch. He described the surface as tough, where every wicket felt like a major achievement under the scorching heat.

“To be honest, this series was very good because we played in Ahmedabad, which offered a lot of help for the fast bowlers,” he said. “But then we came to New Delhi, and we had to bowl a lot of overs here. Every wicket felt like 5 wickets. As a fast bowler, when you get a reward for your efforts, you feel confidence and happiness.”

Siraj expressed pride in being recognized with the impact player medal. “And then you’re also the impact player of the dressing room so it felt very good,” he added.

He also highlighted that Test cricket remains his favorite format. “When you achieve something, you feel very good about yourself. I feel very proud of myself. I will continue my performance like this. There are many challenges. You have to stay on the ground the whole day physically and mentally. I feel proud to be able to contribute,” he said.

Siraj’s next assignment will be the ODI series against Australia, where he is expected to lead the pace attack in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence. The three-match series starts on October 19 in Perth, followed by games in Adelaide and Sydney.
