Overview:

Green, who recently started bowling after missing the T20Is against New Zealand, was ruled out on Friday.

Australia have suffered a major setback ahead of their ODI series against India, with all-rounder Cameron Green ruled out due to side soreness. Marnus Labuschagne has replaced the 26-year-old, whose injury could impact Australia’s Ashes preparations.

Green, who recently started bowling after missing the T20Is against New Zealand, was ruled out on Friday.

On the other hand, Labuschagne, who scored fourth century in the ongoing domestic season, will join the Australia’s squad ahead of the first ODI on October 19.

Green was unlikely to bowl in the first two ODIs against the Men in Blue. The selection panel was thinking of resting him from the third contest and the five T20Is to play him in the domestic matches before the Ashes.

“Green will start his rehabilitation and is expected to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to get ready for the Ashes,” a Cricket Australia spokesperson said.

Green’s injury is concerning for the Aussies as Captain Pat Cummins hasn’t recovered from back injury. Sean Abbott (hand) and Brendan Doggett (hamstring) are not fit while Jhye Richardson hasn’t returned to action after shoulder surgery.
