Delhi: There is a constant debate regarding the selection of Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. As soon as his name appeared in the squad, discussions intensified on social media and cricket panels. This controversy was started by former selector Krishnamachari Srikanth. He claimed that Harshit Rana gets a chance in every format only because he obeys everything Gautam Gambhir says. According to Srikanth, Gambhir favors him everywhere.

However, Gautam Gambhir immediately responded to this in the press conference. He said that people should not spread such things just for YouTube views. He clearly said that it is wrong to make such allegations without evidence.

Ashwin supported Harshit

Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also given his opinion in this matter. He said that there should be criticism, but it should not become an attack on the personal life of the player. Ashwin admitted that after IPL 2024, he himself had raised questions on Rana’s performance, but he never said anything on a personal level.

Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, “If Harshit Rana sees any such video in which he is being made fun of, and he is about to play a match for India, then his confidence may fall. His family and friends will also be affected by this.”

He further said, “We can talk about their skills, style of play or performance. But, personal attacks are not right. Nowadays negative things sell more. People show only what will sell. But, we should not see and spread such things.”

He said, “Today everyone is targeting Harshit Rana. Imagine if the same player plays well next year, will the same people praise him? Look at cricket like cricket. The player you are trolling could also be your friend, brother or son.”

Ashwin clearly said that the joking and trolling that is happening about Rana can mentally trouble any player.
