Marylebone Cricket Club keeps making new rules to make cricket exciting. Now another new rule has come in cricket, which is going to make this game more interesting. Actually, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has implemented a unique rule, which is going to curb the cunningness of the batsmen. Former ICC umpire Anil Chaudhary has shared a video regarding this rule on his Instagram.
According to this new rule of ICC, if the batsman goes completely behind the stumps while playing the ball and no part of it remains on the pitch, then that shot will be declared dead ball. In this situation runs will not be added, however the ball will be considered a legal delivery. But remember, if the batsman is bowled, he will remain out.
Many times it is seen that the batsmen slip behind the stumps to dodge the bowler. West Indies legend Kieron Pollard has been seen playing such a shot many times. Batsmen used this technique to harass the bowlers and spoil the fielding. This means that even if the batsman has hit a four or a six, the runs will not be counted.
This rule will be applicable in all formats like T20, ODI and Test, due to which batsmen may have to change their technique.
