Harry Brook, Salt’s Blitz Crushes New Zealand at Christchurch

The England captain Harry Brook and Phil Salt’s onslaught has helped England to post a 65-run victory against New Zealand in the second T20I game played on October 20 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

Batting first, England went on to post 236 runs in their 20-over innings. Despite Jos Buttler being dismissed for 4 runs while Bracewell dismissed Bethell for 24 runs.

Harry Brook came in and joined Phil Salt to add 129 runs for the thrid wicket.

Jamison broght the breakthrough went on to bag the wicket of England Captain Harry Brook who scored 78 runs off 35 deliveries which included 6 fours and 5 sixes.

Jamieson went on to bag this second wicket dismissing for Phil Salt who scored 85 runs off 56 deliveries.

With Sam Curran and Tom Banton remained unbeaten 8 and 29 runs, England went on to score 239 runs in the 20 overs innings.

In the pursuit of chasing 237 runs, Tim Seifert and Tim Robinson opened the innings while Luke Wood opened the bowling attack.

Brdon Carse went on to bag the wickets of Robinson and Rachin Ravindra for 7 and 8 runs respectiely.

Mark Chapman who joined Seifert went on to score 28 runs before being dismissed by Liam Dawson. With Seifert’s dismissal for 39 runs, New Zealand went on to score 94 runs for 4 wickets.

With a mini batting collapse, New Zealand got bowled for 171 runs. James Neesham and Mitchell Santner showed some resistance which was not able to complete the chase and suffered a 65 run defeat.

Adil Rashid picked four wickets while Luke Wood and Brydon Carse bagged two wickets each.

Harry Brook was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post match conference, “Yeah, it felt good. It’s always nice to contribute and to do alongside Salty, who’s been very successful for us in this new era.”

“Yeah, it was good to contribute. (partnership with Salt) No, it was just that really, just keeping each other calm, composed, and looking to manipulate the field and put them under as much pressure as possible,” concluded Harry Brook.

England lead the series 1-0 with first game being abandoned due to rain. The third match of the series will be played on October 23 at Eden Park, Auckland.
