Mohsin Naqvi has refused to give the trophy to Team India despite the BCCI’s letter to the ACC and PCB head. He has urged the Indian Cricket Board to organise a presentation ceremony in India and send a player to take the trophy home.

The problem started after India refused to accept the silverware and medals from Naqvi. He didn’t like the move and told the ACC officials to take the trophy away. During a meeting on September 30, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla told Naqvi to give the trophy to the victorious Indian team. However, he refused to end the controversy. Sri Lanka and Afghanistan cricket boards are supporting the BCCI.

Naqvi sent a letter to the BCCI. “We must congratulate the Indian Team for winning the Asia Cup 2025. The ACC President will not be involved in politics. There was no official communication shared with the ACC regarding any concern of the BCCI with respect to the post-match ceremony. It was only when all the guests had taken their place on the stage that a BCCI representative informed that the Indian cricket team would not be receiving the trophy and awards.”

“The ACC President and the other guests waited for 40 minutes to preserve the integrity of the presentation ceremony. The trophy belongs to India, and an official of the BCCI, along with a participating player, can collect it from the ACC President. Such a collection would be covered to avoid any deviation from established practices.”

Naqvi also revealed that several follow-ups have taken place with the BCCI. However, the deadlock continues, and the trophy remains with the ACC President.
