India opener Smriti Mandhana equalled the record for most centuries in women’s ODIs in a single year during the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 match against New Zealand on Thursday.

Smriti scored her fifth century in the format in this year, thereby equalling South African batter Tazmin Brits’ record. The 34-year-old Brits achieved the feat during her side’s win over New Zealand in the Women’s ODI World Cup in Indore.

The Indian vice-captain brought up her century in 88 balls — a knock which included 10 fours and three sixes.

With this century against the Kiwis, Smriti notched up her 14th century in the format, just one ton away from equalling former Australia skipper Meg Lanning’s record for most centuries in ODIs (15).
