India A Selection: The issue of selection of Indian batsman Sarfaraz Khan has once again become heated. Sarfaraz, who seemed to be cementing his place in the middle order after entering Team India last year, is not even getting selected at the moment. Leave aside Team India, now Sarfaraz Khan is not even being selected for India A and there is a big uproar over this. Amidst all this, Sarfaraz has got the support of his team Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur in domestic cricket, who says that this batsman does not need to play in India A team to play international cricket.

Before the match of the second round of Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season, Mumbai's star batsman Sarfaraz Khan remains in the news. The reason for this is their ignorance. Recently, the India A team was announced for the unofficial Test series against South Africa A, in which Rishabh Pant was given the command of the team, while some players of the senior Test team including KL Rahul were included in the squad for the second match. But Sarfaraz was not selected for this series also, which raised questions even though he had played some good innings in the first match of Ranji Trophy and before that in Duleep Trophy also.

'Sarfaraz does not need India A'

But despite this, when Sarfaraz Khan was not selected in the team, questions started arising. Everyone is giving different reasons for this. Questions are even being raised that if he is not being selected for India A, then is he not being considered worthy of international cricket? However, Team India's all-rounder Shardul, Sarfaraz's captain in the Mumbai team, sees it differently. Shardul believes that Sarfaraz does not need A series to prove himself. He said, "These days, those people are selected for the India A team, who have to be prepared for international cricket. Sarfaraz does not need India A matches to play international cricket. If he makes big scores again, he can also play the Test series directly."

Will you be able to stake claim for Ranji Trophy?

This test series between India A and South Africa A will start from 30th October, while the second match will start from 6th November. Both these matches will be played at BCCI's Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Immediately after this series, the 2 test match series between India and South Africa will start from 14th November. Now Sarfaraz Khan cannot present his claim through India A. In such a situation, he has a chance to strengthen his case in Ranji Trophy. He had scored 42 and 32 runs in the first match against Jammu and Kashmir and now he will have a chance to attract the attention of the selectors by making big scores against Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
