Delhi: Veteran New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson has expressed his excitement about his return to international cricket. Ahead of the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, he said that talks are ongoing with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) regarding his availability. This will be his first international comeback after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Williamson is currently on casual contract with New Zealand Cricket. He did not participate in the three-match T20 series against Australia. Apart from this, he also left the Zimbabwe tour so that he could work on his rhythm and form by playing county cricket and The Hundred tournaments in England.
In a video shared by NZC, Williamson said that the balance between family and cricket is very important to him. He told that for this reason he keeps discussing his availability with the board from time to time.
Williamson said, “I still love the game the same. I want to keep getting better, work harder and contribute to the team. It has been an important part of my life.”
Williamson expressed his happiness after returning to the Blackcaps dugout. He said that living in a team environment has always been a special experience, and he is happy to be a part of this environment again.
Talking about future plans, Williamson said that he is not making any long-term plans regarding the 2027 ODI World Cup. His focus right now is on the needs and balance of the team. He said that he wants to move forward step by step and is ready to contribute wherever the team needs him.
He said, “It is always a matter of pride to be a part of the national team. I want to contribute with full dedication wherever I can be of use to the team.”
