The bowling all-rounder Alana King went on to put up a brilliant show against South Africa in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 game played on October 25 at Indore.

She went on to bag seven wickets in her seven-over spell at an economy of 2.60, bowling two maiden overs.

After being invited to bat first, Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits opened the innings while Megan Schutt opened the bowling attack.

Megan Schutt and Kim Garth bagged the wickets of Wolvaardt and Brits for 31 and 6, while Alana King did the rest of the job, dismissing the entire middle order.

Despite Sinalo Jafta and Nadine de Klerk showing some resistance, South Africa got bowled out for 97 runs in the 24th over.

Speaking on the toss, Tahlia McGarth said, “We’re going to bowl first. Naturally it’s been a bit of a chasing ground. It looks a bit easier to bat under lights. Every game we review, there are just a few little tweaks to make, so it’d be nice to get it right today and carry some momentum into that semifinal.”

“Going to give the same boring answer (on Healy’s fitness) – it’s a bit of a day-by-day thing. She (Healy) trained well yesterday, but still, we’re taking it day by day. Wareham comes back in. We know each other very well, so bragging rights on the line.,” concluded McGarth.

Meanwhile, Laura Wolvaardt said, “Probably would have bowled first as well. We have chased pretty well in this tournament. It’s nice to see batting contributions from the whole batting lineup.”

“Yeah, hopefully more of that sort of thing today. We’ve got two changes – Nadine de Klerk comes back in, and Masabata Klaas is in. Both would make it a very special day for us.”

“I don’t think we’ve ever finished top of the table in any format of a World Cup before, so it’s an amazing opportunity for us today to test our skills against one of the best sides in the world. Very excited.”
