New Delhi, 26 October (Read). Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat, praised the adoption and training of Indian breed dogs in security forces. He told that five years ago he had urged the countrymen and security forces to adopt Indian breed dogs.

In the 127th episode of Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said that BSF and CRPF have increased the number of Indian breed dogs in their squads. BSF’s National Training Center is in Tekanpur, Gwalior. Here special attention is being given to Rampur Hound, Mudhol Hound and other Indian breeds. The training manual for these dogs has also been revised to highlight their special abilities.

The Prime Minister said, “Indian breed dogs adapt quickly to their environment and circumstances.”

He said that Indian breeds like Mongrels, Mudhol Hounds, Kombai and Pandikona are being trained in the Dog Breeding and Training School of CRPF located in Bengaluru. Last year, in the All India Police Duty Meet held in Lucknow, Mudhol Hound Riya won the first prize, leaving behind foreign breeds.
