She got her 200th scalp when she cleaned up the opposition skipper Fatima Sana (2 off 4 balls), providing the 5th breakthrough for New Zealand with a wrong-un that turned back in sharply in the 20th over of the innings, after skipper Sophie Devine won the toss and opted to bowl first in Colombo, which continues to witness rain-hit encounters in the ongoing edition of the tournament.

Currently on 200 scalps, Kerr reaches the landmark, a feat that cements her status as one of the modern game’s most complete performers. Since making her debut as a teenager in 2016, Kerr has been a constant force for the White Ferns, delivering match-defining spells that blend control, variety, and unerring composure under pressure.

Her rise has been decorated with match-winning performances, record-breaking batting feats, and a rare balance of excellence in both ODI and T20I cricket.
When she stepped out against Pakistan in Colombo on 18th October 2025, the cricketing world watched closely as she scripted a memorable moment in her career.

The ongoing 13th edition of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, has been a mixed journey so far for New Zealand, under Sophie Devine’s leadership.
The White Ferns stumbled early, suffering an 89-run defeat to Australia in Indore on 1 October, where Kerr claimed 2 for 54 in her 10 overs, followed by a 6-wicket loss to South Africa at the same venue on 6 October, returning 2 for 62 in another full spell.

So far in the ongoing edition of the tournament, Kerr has bagged 6 wickets in five innings at an average of 33.33 and an economy of 4.34. She is already New Zealand’s all-time joint 3rd highest wicket-taker alongside Jackie Lord and Katrina Keenan in ICC Women’s ODI World Cups, with 25 wickets at 28.40 and an economy of 4.43 in 18 innings since her World Cup debut against Sri Lanka on 24 June 2017 in Bristol.
Her record includes one four-wicket haul in global tournament play, underscoring her impact at the sport’s highest stage.

Since her ODI debut on 9 November 2016 against Pakistan at Lincoln, Kerr has been a pillar in New Zealand’s bowling attack. In 81 innings, she has claimed 105 wickets at an average of 29.95 and an economy of 4.57, including six four-wicket hauls and a five-for. Her career-best ODI bowling performance came in Dublin on 13 June 2018 against Ireland, a stunning 5 for 17 in 7 overs, a match that immortalised her in cricket history.

On the same day, she delivered a batting masterclass with an unbeaten 232 off 145 balls, studded with 31 boundaries and two sixes, the highest individual score in women’s ODIs, opening alongside Amy Satterthwaite.
That extraordinary all-round effort earned her both Player of the Match and Player of the Series honours (342 runs and 8 wickets).

Kerr’s white-ball mastery extends into T20Is, having debuted on 21 November 2016 against Pakistan in Nelson.
Across 88 matches, she has captured 95 wickets in 86 innings at an exceptional average of 20.37 and economy of 6.09, including two four-wicket hauls. Her T20I brilliance peaked on 22 September 2024 against Australia in Mackay, where she returned 4 for 20, even though New Zealand fell short by 29 runs.

With her mix of guile and control, Amelia Kerr’s career has been a masterclass in sustained excellence. Reaching 200 international wickets, just after her 25th birthday, places her among New Zealand’s most celebrated cricketers, standing shoulder to shoulder with legends like Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates, Lea Tahuhu, Amy Satterthwaite, etc, who have shaped the women’s game, in New Zealand in particular and also having a global imprint of their legacy.

The milestone underlines her enduring role as a match-winner with both bat and ball, a player who thrives under the brightest lights and carries the hopes of the White Ferns wherever they play.
