Indian cricket team's star batsman Shreyas Iyer suffered a serious injury during the third ODI match against Australia, but now his condition has improved a lot. In this match played at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Iyer fell uncomfortably while taking the catch of Australian batsman Alex Carey, due to which he got injured in his spleen. Medical examination confirmed mild internal bleeding, after which he was immediately admitted to a hospital in Sydney.
Initially Iyer was kept in ICU, but now he has come out of ICU.According to a report by Cricbuzz, Shreyas Iyer's condition remains critical but stable. Iyer's condition is improving, due to which he has now been taken out of the ICU. The BCCI medical team is keeping a close eye on his injury situation in Sydney.
According to reports, Iyer is out of danger and some friends are also with him. Apart from this, after the visa formalities are completed, a family member can fly from Mumbai to Sydney. There is no hurry being taken regarding Iyer right now, and he will remain in Sydney till he recovers completely.
He may remain in the hospital for a few more days.Earlier, BCCI had also issued a press release and given an update on Iyer's injury. BCCI said that Shreyas Iyer suffered an injury to the lower part of his left rib while fielding during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney on October 25, 2025. After which he was taken to the hospital. Scans revealed injury to the spleen. He is undergoing treatment, his condition is stable and he is recovering. BCCI's medical team is in constant touch with the specialist doctors of Sydney and is keeping an eye on them.
The Indian team doctor will be with Shreyas in Sydney to assess his daily progress.
