The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 has reached its decisive phase and now the eyes of the fans are fixed on the second semi-final match.
Delhi: The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 has reached its decisive phase and now the eyes of the fans are fixed on the second semi-final match. This important match will be played between India and Australia on 30 October at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. However, before this match the weather has once again become a topic of discussion.
India’s last two league matches played in Navi Mumbai had to be canceled due to continuous rain. According to the Meteorological Department, there is more than 50 percent chance of rain in the afternoon on October 30, the day of the semi-final match. In such a situation, this question is arising in the minds of cricket lovers that what will happen if the semi-final is washed away in the rain.
If the semi-final between India and Australia on Thursday is not completed due to rain, then the match will be held on Reserve Day i.e. Friday, October 31. ICC has made a provision for reserve day for the knockout stage in the 50 over tournament.
According to Section 13.6 of the ICC Playing Conditions, “A reserve day shall be designated for the semi-final and final matches on which the incomplete match shall be continued. No reserve day shall be kept for any other match.” According to the rules, first efforts will be made to complete the match on the same day, even if the number of overs has to be reduced, but if the match is not completed on that day, then it will be continued on the reserve day.
There is a possibility of rain in Navi Mumbai on October 31 also. In such a situation, the question arises that what will happen if the match cannot be played even on the reserve day. According to ICC rules, to declare the result in a 50 over match, both the teams will have to play at least 20 overs each. If these overs are not completed or the match remains incomplete for any reason, then the match will be declared cancelled.
If the semi-final match cannot be played on both the scheduled day and the reserve day, then Australia will enter the final, this will happen because it is above India in the points table. Australia won six out of seven matches in the league stage and one match was abandoned due to rain. On the other hand, India won three matches, lost three and played one draw, due to which it stood fourth in the points table.
The final match of the Women’s World Cup will be played on Sunday, November 2 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Now it remains to be seen which team will be able to make it to the finals this time despite battling the rain.
