NEW DELHI: The buzz around the India vs. Australia T20I series is ramping up, and Travis Head has wasted no time in setting a confident tone. Just one day before the opening match in Canberra, the Australian opener issued a clear warning to the Indian team, confidently stating that the Australian batting line-up possesses enough muscle to reach any target.

Head emphasized that taking advantage of the initial fielding restrictions has been a core element of Australia’s limited-overs game plan for some time. He acknowledged that the approach can sometimes look “reckless,” but stressed that it is a deliberate and practiced strength.
“We can score anything if we can get going. So, for Mitch and I, the plan is to try and go out there and take advantage of it (Powerplay fielding restrictions), We try not to be reckless, but at some stage it will look like that… but yeah, the plan is to try and get as many as possible,” Head explained to cricket.com.au. He believes that pushing the scoring rate. early is essential given the immense hitting power held in the lower-middle order.

According to Head, the wealth of experienced power-hitters following the openers gives Australia a massive advantage. He specifically highlighted players like Tim David, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell as providing “huge power” that gives the top order freedom to attack.
He made it clear that the openers cannot afford to be slow, as it would waste potential runs that the finishers can easily accumulate. “You don’t want to be chewing up balls up at the start when you’ve got behind you,” he told cricket.com.au.
However, Head’s confidence comes despite a relatively ordinary run in the preceding ODI series, where he managed just 65 runs across three games.
