Cricket Australia has launched real-time audio commentary on its live app as a new initiative. Now fans can listen to commentary in Hindi or English by wearing headphones in the stadium or at home. It has started with the India-Australia series and soon this facility will be available in Big Bash and Ashes also.
Delhi: The past era in cricket is returning in a new style. England are setting an example of distance commentary without sending a panel of commentators to Australia during this season’s Ashes series. Cricket Australia has brought back audio (i.e. voice only) commentary, but it is not radio commentary. No radio or transistor is needed to listen to it. It can also be heard as real-time commentary in the stadium through Cricket Australia’s live app. Till a few years ago, people watching matches in the stadium used to listen to the commentary simultaneously with transistors on their ears. Now commentary is available in the same style through this app.
The importance of this news at this time is because Cricket Australia started this series of audio commentary with the ODI series of Shubman Gill’s Team India and now commentary of every match is available during the T20 series also. What is even more interesting is that the commentary of the matches is available in Hindi as well as in English. After the success of this experiment, Cricket Australia has also said that through CA Live app, live audio can also be streamed for Big Bash League, Women Big Bash League and Ashes. The general feeling is that this will improve accessibility and the match day experience for those watching the match at the stadium.
What is now happening is that cricket lovers who come to watch the match can now listen to their favorite commentary team live and without any interruption by wearing headphones and choosing their favorite feed through the Cricket Radio tab of the Match Centre. How did Cricket Australia arrange Hindi commentary? The answer to this question is that they are taking Hindi commentary from Jio Star. Cricket Australia has considered making the Hindi feed available as a big achievement for itself.
So those who are in the stadium can listen to the audio commentary of all these series/tournaments in Hindi/English on Cricket Radio through CA Live app.
Those outside the stadium can enjoy real-time English commentary in Australia via SEN, ABC and Triple M.
Standard Radio: Perfect for relaxing listening at home, there is a standard feed that will play all the action with a delay of a few moments. These are available for every match that has commentary.
Real-time radio: For those present in the stadium, every second matters. This real-time feed will provide commentary without any delay. If you are in a match then this app is the best.
This arrangement of real-time commentary in the stadium is not a completely new initiative. Many stadiums in England do not have such an app, but spectators use a small ear-radio device to watch the action while listening to live commentary.
