Jonathan Trott, the head coach of Afghanistan, has confirmed that any previous communication issues with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have now been sorted out, ensuring smooth coordination.

Trott’s comments follow concerns about poor communication on squad selection and ACB interactions, which he now says have been resolved. This comes at a crucial time for Afghanistan, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing Asia Cup and Test series loss.

Trott acknowledged that there were some misunderstandings in the past but emphasised that they have now been resolved. “We had a good conversation with the ACB, me, and the top management. We’ve come to a mutual understanding and agreed on the way forward. The issues have been resolved,” Trott said.

“The communication is now clear, and we’re all working together as we prepare for a challenging series against Zimbabwe, with an eye on the T20 World Cup in the subcontinent,” he added.

Trott added that the recent talks were positive.

“I think these discussions can be beneficial as they highlight areas for improvement on both sides. The communication over the past few days has been excellent, and I’ve really appreciated it. I’m excited for what lies ahead in the coming months,” he mentioned.

While ACB officials want Trott to stay on after the T20 World Cup, he remains focused on the present.

“There have been some good discussions over the past few days. I’ve signed till the 2026 World Cup, and I’m really looking forward to the future and the upcoming months. While we were disappointed with our Asia Cup performance, it’s important to bounce back, and the players have been training hard,” he concluded.
