Wool, Marizne Kapp Setup Soouth Africans Spot in CWC 2025 Finals

A solid knock from Laura Wolvaardt and a five-for from Marizanne Kapp have secured a solid 125-run victory for South Africa against England Women in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 on October 29 at Guwahati.

By this win, they secured the spot in the finals, which is set to be played on November 02.

After being invited to bat first, Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits opened the innings while Lauren Bell opened the bowling attack.

The opener duo went on to post a solid knock, stitching a 116-run partnership for the first wicket.

Sophie Ecclestone went on to bag the first wicket, dismissing Tazmin Brits for 45 runs. Ecclestone went on to bag her second wicket of Anneke Bosch for a duck.

With the dismissal of Sune Luus for 1 run by Nat Sciver-Brunt, South Africa lost three wickets for 3 runs.

However, a solid partnership from Marizanne Kapp and Laura Wolvaardt has helped the side to stabilise the innings, while Sinalo Jafta and Annerie Deckersen lost their wickets cheaply.

After forging a partnership with Chloe Tryon, Laura Wolvaardt went on to post 169 runs in 143 deliveries, helping the side to set up crossing the 300-run mark.

Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk went on to post 33* and 10* runs to post 319 runs in their 50-over innings. Sophie Ecclestone went on to bag four wickets, while Lauren Bell bagged two wickets.

Aiming to chase the mammoth total, Heather Knight and Amy Jones opened the innings while Marizanne Kapp opened the attack.

Marizanne Kapp bagged the wickets of Amy Jones and Heather Knight for a duck in the first over, delivering a maiden over.

With Khaka picking the wicket of Tammy Beaumont for 0, England lost the entire top order for just 1 run.

However, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey went on to post a solid partnership of 107 runs for the fourth wicket, where the duo both smashed fifties.

Sune Luus brought the necessary breakthrough, dismissing Alice Capsey for 50 runs, and with Nat Sciver-Brunt’s dismissal for 64 runs by Mariazanne Kapp, England went on to lose 5 wickets for 138 runs.

Despite knocks from Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Linsey Smith, England went on to lose wickets at frequent intervals.

Marizanne Kapp went on to bag the wickets for Sophia Dunkley and Charlotte Dean for 2 and 0, respectively.

Linsey Smith showed some resistance in the end, scored 27 runs before being dismissed by Nadine Klerk and with her dismissal, South Africa secured a 125-run victory and secured their spot in the finals.

Marizanne Kapp bagged five wickets, while Nadine de Klerk bagged two wickets, while Ayabong Khaka, Nonkululeko Mlaba and Sune Luus bagged one wicket each. The finals will be played on November 02 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
