Women World Cup: Thanks to Laura Wolvaardt’s brilliant inning of 169 runs, South Africa defeated England by 125 runs on Wednesday and entered the final of the ODI Women’s World Cup for the first time. South Africa scored 319-7 and then bowled out England for 194 in 42.3 overs thanks to a brilliant performance of 5-20 from medium pace bowler Marizanne Kapp in the first semi-final in Guwahati. South Africa now await the winner of the second semi-final between Australia and India for the title clash on the outskirts of Mumbai on Sunday.

Wolvaardt brought up his 10th ODI century, then switched gears to attack the opposition in the final few overs, hitting 20 fours and four sixes in his 143-ball innings.She topped the batting list of the tournament after scoring 470 runs in 8 matches including one century and three fifties.
This brilliant batsman started by hitting a four with a cover drive off Lauren Bell and the opening pair pushed England on the backfoot by hitting fours at regular intervals. England continued to attack, but Wolvaardt fought back and made important partnerships with Cap (42) and Chloe Tryon (33 not out). Wolvaardt was eventually dismissed by Bell in the 48th over and returned to a standing ovation and handshake from the opposition players. Ecclestone performed brilliantly with figures of 4-44.South African fast bowler Kapp shocked England by taking two wickets in the very first over, bowling Amy Jones and Heather Knight – both of whom were out for a duck. Ayabonga Khaka dismissed Tammy Beaumont for a duck in the second over and despite excellent performances from captain Nate Sciver-Brunt and Ellis Capsey, England’s innings fell apart. Sciver-Brunt (64 runs) and Capsey (50) added 107 runs for the third wicket, but after their dismissal the South African bowlers made a comeback. Kapp dismissed Sciver-Brunt and then scored a hat-trick by getting Sophia Dunkley and Charlie Dean caught behind the wicket, which was avoided by Ecclestone.
