Indian ODI team vice-captain Shreyas Iyer was recently injured while taking a catch from Alex Carey during the three-match series between India and Australia. The injury was so serious that he was immediately taken to the hospital and operated on. Now news is coming that Shreyas may stay out of cricket for about two months.
According to reports, Shreyas Iyer’s condition is now stable, but his return will take time. For this reason, he is almost certain to play in the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of his absence from the ODI series against New Zealand in January, because he will lack match practice during that time.
This means that even if Shreyas Iyer is successful in making his place in the T20 World Cup plans, his return in the January series may be difficult. If he misses the New Zealand series, he will be directly seen playing for his team in the IPL.
