Delhi: Indian team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana made a special record in the second semi-final of the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup against Australia. Opening the innings with Shefli Verma, he completed 1000 runs against Australia in his ODI career.
Mandhana made a big record
With this achievement, Mandhana has become the second Indian player, after former captain Mithali Raj, to score 1000 or more runs in ODIs against Australia.
Mandhana completed this milestone when she had scored only 4 runs in the beginning of India’s innings. India had to chase a huge target of 339 runs. However, Mandhana could not convert this brilliant start into a big score and was out after scoring 24 runs on the ball of Kim Garth. After this India’s score became 59-2 in 9.2 overs.
At present, Mandhana’s figures against Australia are very good. He has scored 1020 runs in 21 innings and his average is around 50. In this list, Mithali Raj is at the top with 1123 runs, followed by Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Anjum Chopra and Deepti Sharma.
Smriti Mandhana had recently also scored four-figure runs against England, when she played a explosive inning of 88 runs in Indore. Apart from this, she also became the first female cricketer to complete 1000 runs in a calendar year.
