Jemimah Rodrigues’ resilient 127* run knock against Australia has secured India a spot in the final of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, played on October 30 at Guwahati.

Supported by Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur, Rodrigues went on to take the game towards the end, completing the biggest chase in the Women’s ODI history.

After choosing to bat first, Australia’s openers Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield made a decent start, scoring 25 runs in 5 overs before they lost the wicket of Healy for 5 runs.

The rain stopped the game after the completion of the 5th over; however, the umpires decided to continue the game, where Kranti Gaud bagged the wicket of Healy.

Right after the dismissal, the rain got heavier and forced the stoppage of the game. The rain stopped eventually, and the game is set to resume at 03:40 PM IST.

Resuming the game, Ellyse Perry and Phoebe Litchfield shifted to top gear, stitching a 155 run partnership for the 2nd wicket.

Litchfield went on to smash a century and scored 119 runs off 93 deliveries, which included 17 fours and 3 sixes.

Meanwhile, Ellyse Perry went on to smash fifty and while Shree Charani dismissed Beth Mooney and Annabel Sutherland got dismissed for 24 and 3 runs respectively.

With Tahlia McGarth dismissed on a run out for 12 runs, Ash Gardner and Kim Garth are aiming to forge a partnership to guide the side to breach the 300-run mark.

Ash Gardner accelerated to 63 runs before being dismissed on a runout. With her dismissal, Alana King and Sophie Molinuex were dismissed for 4 and duck, respectively.

With Kim Garth’s 17 runs, Australia went on to score 338 runs against India in the high-octane semi-final games of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.

In the pursuit of chasing the mammoth target of 339 runs, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana opened the innings, while Megan Schutt opened the innings.

Despite a decent start from India, Kim Garth picked the wicket of Shafali Verma for 10 runs while Jemimah Rodrigues joined Smriti Mandhana to post 59 runs on the board for the second wicket.

Kim Garth got her second Wicket, dismissing Smriti Mandhana for 24 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur joined Rodrigues forged a 167-run partnership for the third wicket.

Harmanpreet Kaur went on to score 89 runs before being dismissed by Annabel Sutherland. The duo went on to post 226 runs scoreboard stabilising the innings.

In the Meantime, Jemimah Rodrigues went on to smash her 3rd ODI century. Despite India losing the wickets of Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues took the game towards the end.

With Amanjot Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues on the crease with 15* and 127* runs, India secured a stunning 5-wicket victory in the semifinals and secured a spot in the finals.

Jemimah Rodrigues was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking at the post-match conference, Rodrigues said, “Firstly, I want to thank Jesus, because I couldn’t do this on my own. I know he carried me through today.”

“I want to thank my mom, my dad, my coach, and every single person who just believed in me throughout this time. It was really hard these last four months, but it just feels like a dream and it’s not sunk in yet,” concluded Jemimah Rodrigues.

India will take on South Africa in the finals of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 on November 02 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
