Unseasonal rain broke the backs of farmers
Pulses and oilseed crops along with paddy were destroyed.
Hamirpur, 30 October (Read). In Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh, the rain started from 5 am on Thursday and continued till 5 pm. Farmers are suffering due to rain for 12 hours. The rain has dealt a severe blow to the paddy crop standing in the fields. Besides, the possibility of disease in the recently sown Rabi crop has increased.
Storm Motha wreaked havoc on Thursday. The rain which started with the winds from 5 am in the morning continued till 5 pm. Everything has been drenched due to 12 hours of rain. The paddy crop has been badly damaged in the fields due to rain coupled with strong winds. Due to which the possibility of loss has increased. Also, there is a possibility of seed infestation in the crops of pea, lentil, gram and mustard sown in Rabi recently. Farmers are troubled by this. Farmers Mansingh Bhadoria, Udaybhan Yadav, Suresh Kumar, Vardani Savita, Raju Yadav etc. said that there is more possibility of loss than profit due to rain. This time the rain has broken the back of the farmers. Due to incessant rains at the time of sowing of the country’s most important crop, the sowing of major food crops wheat and pulses and oilseeds was significantly delayed, but the rains in the last week of October dashed the true hopes of the farmers regarding sowing.
Not only this, paddy, the world’s most important food crop, is currently lying in the fields after being harvested at some places and is ready to be harvested at some places. Which has now reached a state of complete deterioration. Whereas due to seasonal conditions, farmers are now completely devastated and almost ninety percent of the agricultural land in the area is flooded with water, due to which there is no possibility of sowing for about two weeks. In such a situation, it may be difficult for farmers to earn their living. Due to which the farmers will be forced to migrate.
