Jemimah Rodrigues couldn’t control her tears after leading India to a win over Australia in the semi-final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. She kept crying during her post-match interview, thanking God and teammates for helping her take the team to the final of the global tournament against South Africa on November 2. She was named the Player of the Match for scoring an unbeaten 127 runs off 134 balls as India defeated the defending champions, Australia, by 5 wickets while chasing 339 runs.

“I want to thank Jesus and I couldn’t do this on my own. I want to thank my parents, coach and everyone who believed in me. It was really hard, and I had no idea that I would bat at No.3. I was informed about it five minutes before I came in. I wanted to win this match to take us through,” she said.

“Today was not about my fifty or my hundred; it was about making India win. I was dropped from the World Cup last year, and I couldn’t control anything. I have cried every day and have gone through anxiety. I knew God would take care of everything and fight for me. I was trying to stay calm, and when Harry Di came in, it was about one good partnership. I was not able to push myself, and Deepti, Richa and Amanjot lifted me. I didn’t do anything on my own and can’t take away the credit from others. I wanted to thank fans for cheering and pumping me up,” she added.
