Rodrigues Jemith: 25-year-old Jemimah Rodrigues did what no one expected in the second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025. Perhaps Jemima herself did not. In the semi-final match against Australia, he not only played an unbeaten inning of 127 runs but also led Team India to victory.

This victory gave Team India a ticket to the finale. This journey was not so easy for Jemimah Rodrigues. During this tournament, she was struggling with mental health due to which she used to cry for hours.

Why did Jemimah Rodrigues cry?

Jemima did not get a very good start in the World Cup 2025. Due to which there was a lot of pressure on him. Due to which she used to cry a lot and was not mentally well. After the match Jemima said,

‘I have cried almost every day on this tour. I was not mentally well, struggling with anxiety. A few games ago, I used to call my mother and just cry in front of her the whole day.

Because when you are going through a period of anxiety, you are very emotional. But I knew I had to get on the field and God took care of everything.

Memorable innings of Jemimah Rodrigues

Team India had a target of 339 runs in the semi-final match of the Women’s World Cup in Navi Mumbai. The Indian team had never before achieved a target of more than 200 in the World Cup. In the semi-finals against Australia, Team India had lost the wickets of both its openers by 59 runs, but after this, Jemimah Rodriguez and captain Harmanpreet Kaur made a partnership of 167 runs, which not only brought Team India back but also led the team to victory by scoring a century.

Jemimah Rodrigues created history

Jemimah Rodrigues became the second player to score a century in a Women’s World Cup knockout match since the tournament began in 1973, following Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 148 against Australia in England’s 2022 World Cup final defeat. Jemima’s innings is the first time that a player has scored a century in a successful run chase in a knockout game of the mega tournament.

She is also the first player to score a century against Australia in a successful run chase in the World Cup.
