India wins Women's World Cup: The daughters of India have done what 150 crore Indians were waiting for for a long time. India has won the Women's World Cup under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur. India defeated South Africa in the title match played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Batting first, India scored 298 runs and in reply, the South African team disintegrated under the pressure of Indian bowling and the final. South African team could score only 246 runs. South African captain Laura Woolfart definitely scored a century but the entire match changed as soon as this player was out.
India's victory script Shefali Verma And Deepti Sharma wrote. Apart from scoring 87 runs, Shefali took 2 wickets in the final match, while Deepti also scored 58 runs and took 5 wickets and also ran out one player.
The Indian team lost the toss in this match also and it proved to be good luck for them. Batting first, India made a great start on the strength of openers Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. Both the batsmen added 104 runs for the first wicket. Although Smriti Mandhana was out after scoring 45 runs, Shefali Verma remained at the crease and put India in a good position by scoring 87 runs. Apart from Shefali, Deepti Sharma batted brilliantly in the middle order and scored 58 runs at a strike rate of 100. Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh also played an inning of 34 runs in 24 balls and Team India reached 298 runs.
After the batsmen, it was the turn of the bowlers and all the bowlers stood their ground. Especially Deepti Sharma, Shefali Verma and Shri Charni trapped the South African batsmen with their spin. Deepti Sharma took 5 wickets for 39 runs in 9.3 overs. Shri Charni took 1 wicket for 48 runs. Shefali Verma took 2 wickets for 36 runs.
This victory is especially special for captain Harmanpreet Kaur because she had played 12 ICC tournaments before this tournament and failed every time. She played in ODI World Cup 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2022. She played T20 World Cup in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2023 but failed. Now she has finally been able to achieve the distinction of becoming world champion in 2025.
