Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) CEO Kavya Maran is known for her passionate support of her team during IPL matches. This passion was on full display, but for a different reason, during their recent clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Cameras captured Kavya’s visible disappointment after her team missed a crucial run-out opportunity involving CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. The incident sparked a firestorm on social media, with many fans responding to her display of emotions.
Gaikwad, who got two life-lines in the game, played a match-winning knock of 98 runs for CSK, proving to be a thorn for the Hyderabad side. Unfortunately for the Sunrisers, their batting faltered, and they fell short of the target by a massive 78 runs.
The Super Kings dominated the match, with Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell (52 runs) leading the charge with the bat. Tushar Deshpande (4 wickets), Mustafizur Rahman (2 wickets) and Matheesha Pathirana (2 wickets) were the pick of the bowlers for SRH, but it wasn’t enough to overcome CSK’s strong performance.
“Feeling pretty good. Tough to play in such wet conditions, and to be able to win by 70-odd runs is a clinical performance,” said ‘Player of the Match’ Gaikwad in the post-match present.
While the final result didn’t go their way, Sunrisers Hyderabad can take solace in the unwavering support of their passionate CEO.
CSK will next face Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the same stadium on coming Wednesday, May 1st. Meanwhile, the Sunrisers will return home to host Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday.
