NEW DELHI: South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has climbed to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, overtaking India’s Smriti Mandhana after a stunning World Cup campaign. Wolvaardt’s twin centuries in the semifinal and final powered her side through the tournament and earned her a career-best rating of 814.
Mandhana, who had held the No.1 spot throughout the World Cup, dropped a place to second despite a consistent run that saw India lift the trophy after defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final. Both Mandhana and Wolvaardt were named in the Team of the Tournament for their prolific performances.
