Big news about Rohit and ViratImage Credit source: Getty Images
There is still a lot of time for the World Cup 2027 but one question is still in everyone's mind - will Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma be a part of Team India in this tournament? This question remains regarding these two greats who have returned to the field from the ODI series on Australia tour because the selectors and team management have not given any confidence in them. Now these questions have become more acute due to a possible decision of the selection committee. Have Ajit Agarkar and his teammates started working on a backup plan for the World Cup?
Rohit Sharma was selected Player of the Series on Australia tour. Rohit had scored one century and one half-century. Whereas Virat Kohli was out for 0 in both the initial matches but in the third match he scored an excellent half-century and made a big partnership with Rohit to make Team India win. After this performance, it is believed that both will be part of Team India for the ODI series against South Africa. But even before this, a series has to be played and these two greats are not being selected in it.
A report in Cricbuzz has claimed that Rohit and Kohli will not be selected for the ODI series between India A and South Africa A. It has been told in the report that the selection committee has prepared some plans for this series and in order to field them, they will not select Rohit and Kohli for this series. This 3-match series between India A-South Africa A will be played from 13 to 19 November. However, from November 30, an ODI series will also be played between the main teams of India and South Africa and both of them can be seen in it.
The squad for the Test series and India A series is expected to be announced before November 9. Now if this report proves to be true and Rohit-Kohli are not selected, then it will raise questions on the selection committee whether it is going back on its own words? In fact, after the announcement of the team on Australia tour, Agarkar had said that any player who is a part of Team India but is not playing the international series at any time, will have to play domestic cricket (or A team series).
Now Rohit and Virat will not play any international cricket during this period because they will not be a part of the Test series. In such a situation, why are both of them not being selected for practice through this ODI series? Although even before the Australia tour, there was a series between India A and Australia A and both of them did not play in that too but then both of them had refused for it. So, this time also both were not ready for this series or now the selectors are preparing to move ahead without them and hence are preparing other players through this 'A' series. This will be known only after the announcement of the team.
