Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif simply couldn’t hide his excitement after watching Axar Patel put on a spectacular all-round show in the 4th T20I against Australia. The performance didn’t just help India win the match but also helped them clinch a series lead heading into the last T20I match.
Axar’s brilliant display at Carrara Oval rightly earned him the Player of the Match award, and honestly, he looked like a man in total control. Coming in when the team needed a late flourish, he smashed a crucial and match-defining cameo of 21 runs off just 11 balls. This quick-fire knock, including a six and two fours, gave India the vital push to reach a competitive total of 167/8 on what was proving to be a tough pitch. That’s the sign of a serious finisher!
But Axar’s job was only half done. With the ball, the slow left-arm spinner was absolutely brilliant and, crucially, the most economical bowler for India. He delivered an impressive spell of 2 wickets for just 20 runs in his four overs. Axar Patel provided the initial, much-needed breakthrough by trapping opener Matthew Short leg-before, which was the key moment that opened the floodgates and kickstarted the Australian collapse.
Kaif’s tweet perfectly summed up the feeling of every Indian fan. He went straight to “Axar Patel keeps improving all the time. he can bowl with the new ball, gets top-order batters out, plays match-winning cameos, and comes across as a sharp and smart fighter. All-rounder ho toh bapu jaisa. @akshar2026.”
This consistent, high-impact performance proves that Axar is far more than just a regular player; He is a crucial three-dimensional pillar for the Indian T20 side. His ability to deliver tight, economical spells, often in the challenging powerplay overs, coupled with his dangerous, lower-order hitting, provides the perfect balance and much-needed depth. As India focuses on future major tournaments, Axar Patel’s emergence as such a reliable utility player is a massive asset, cementing his place as a genuine match-winner.
