Lucknow: Former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is considered to be the best finisher in the history of Indian cricket. However, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was considered his successor but he remained away from the field for months due to injury. Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has now named the player who can fill the void of Dhoni.

Sidhu has described the 26-year-old player as a batsman who can fill the void of Mahi. The surprising thing is that he has not taken the name of Hardik, who has been playing well in the lower order for the last few years. The former Indian player believes that young batsman Rinku Singh can compensate for Dhoni's shortcomings and can bat like him. During the conversation on Star Sports, Sidhu has given a big statement regarding Rinku.

He said, “See, when I look at Rinku Singh, it seems that Rinku can fill the gap which MS Dhoni used to do for India. He can compensate for Dhoni's shortcomings because Rinku has all the skills which make him a good player. I would say that this player is the future of India, especially in ODI and T-20 cricket, he can play a very important role for the Indian team in the future.”

Rinku Singh has performed well in IPL

Let us tell you that in the IPL, the 26-year-old has performed well while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and has won many matches while playing at number 5 or 6. He has played a total of 40 matches in his IPL career so far, in which he has scored 837 runs at an average of 33.48 and strike rate of 144.06. During this period, he has scored 4 half-centuries with his bat. However, this season he has not got much chance to bat and he has not been able to score much runs. The left-handed batsman led his team to victory by hitting 5 sixes in the last over against Gujarat during IPL 2023 and since then he has not looked back.
