‘Praying for strength’: Gautam Gambhir offers condolences after Red Fort tragedy

NEW DELHI: India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir expressed deep sorrow over the tragic blast that occurred near the Red Fort Metro station on Monday evening, claiming several lives and leaving many injured.

A high-intensity explosion erupted after a car caught fire close to the heritage site, damaging several vehicles in the vicinity. Officials confirmed that at least eight people lost their lives in the incident.

Reacting to the tragedy, Gambhir took to X to share his condolences. “Saddened by the loss of lives due to the blast in Delhi. Praying for strength to the families of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he wrote.

Following the explosion, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) issued a nationwide high alert, tightening security at airports, Delhi Metro stations, heritage monuments, and other key government installations under its watch.

Police forces across several states have also stepped up checks and increased vigilance to prevent any further untoward incidents.

The investigation into the cause of the explosion is currently underway as authorities work to ensure public safety in the aftermath of the shocking event.
