Smriti Mandhana eclipsed Mithali Raj’s record for the most runs scored by an Indian in a single edition of the Women’s ODI World Cup during the 2025 final against South Africa on Sunday.
The southpaw surpassed the former captain’s tally of 409 runs from the 2017 edition, where India had finished runner-up to England.
The overall record for the most runs in a single World Cup edition is held by Australia captain Alyssa Healy, who amassed 509 runs in 2022.
After a modest start to the tournament, Smriti found her rhythm with back-to-back fifties in the league-stage fixtures against Australia and England, before notching her first century in the do-or-die clash against New Zealand in Navi Mumbai.
