After playing ODI and T20 series in Australia, Team India is now ready to play in the colors of Test cricket immediately. The next 2 weeks are going to be very important for captain Shubman Gill's team India because now it is going to face the World Test champion South Africa. Like every time, there will be a lot of focus on the pitch in this series being held in India and it seems that Team India has learned a lesson from its mistake in this matter.
Therefore the team has not made any demand. At least this is what former captain Sourav Ganguly says. The 2-match Test series between India and South Africa is starting from 14th November at the historic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The first match of the series will be played in Kolkata and the second match in Guwahati. In this, Test cricket is going to be played for the first time in Guwahati. In such a situation, how the pitch there will behave cannot be predicted even by turning the pages of history. But spinners have always been in power in Kolkata and this time also this hope will remain intact.
But will the Eden pitch start turning with its natural temperament with each passing day or has Team India demanded a turning pitch from the very first day? Former Indian captain and current president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Sourav Ganguly has revealed that Team India has not made any such demand. Speaking to PTI, Ganguly said, "They (Team India) have not asked for it (turning pitch) yet, so I will not be able to answer it. But it looks quite good (pitch)."
At the same time, Sujan Mukherjee, the famous curator of Eden Gardens, who came into limelight due to the clash with Kolkata Knight Riders during the IPL, is satisfied with the coach Gautam Gambhir seeing the 22-yard strip of the stadium.
He also said that the pitch has been prepared in such a way that the match can last for full 5 days. Mukherjee has also expressed the hope that the pitch may see a good turn from the third day. This means that it is clear that the first 2 days will prove to be good for batting.
