North Zone ensured that it ended the group stage of Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy unbeaten with a massive 129-run victory over North East Zone at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima on Wednesday.
Shivani Singh top-scored for North Zone with an unbeaten 87 from 58 balls, while Ayushi Soni added 69 from 39 balls as the side posted 204 for two in 20 overs. It then proceeded to bowl North East Zone out for 75 to complete its victory. North East Zone finished the tournament without a victory.
East Zone defeated South Zone by six runs in the first match of the day at the Sovima Cricket Ground to push itself above its opponent in the points table, although both sides had been eliminated. Tanusree Sarkar top-scored with 40 as East Zone posted 158 for four in 20 overs, before Saika Ishaque took three to leave South Zone short of its total. Niki Prasad’s unbeaten 54 went in vain for South Zone.
West Zone suffered a defeat against Central Zone ahead of the final. Anushka Sharma was the top-scorer with 80 from 54 balls, while Mona Meshram scored an unbeaten 54 as Central Zone put up 160 for six. Vaishnavi Sharma took three wickets in the chase, as West Zone sank to a 24-run loss.
The final between North Zone and West Zone will take place on Friday.
