Delhi: Afghanistan’s star cricketer Rashid Khan was in the news this week on social media not about his bowling but about his marriage. After a picture went viral, people claimed that Rashid Khan has remarried.

In this picture, Rashid Khan is seen in traditional Afghan attire with a woman. On social media, it was described as a photo of the new wedding and many users made it viral by calling it the photo of their “secret marriage”.

Rashid’s truth of viral picture

Actually, this picture is of the launch event of Rashid Khan Charity Foundation held in Netherlands. Rashid had participated in this program with his wife. This event was organized for social schemes like education, health and clean water and not for marriage.

Rashid Khan was married in October 2024 at the Imperial Continental Hotel in Kabul. At that time, his three brothers also got married on the same day.

When this picture of Netherlands went viral again, Rashid Khan himself gave a clarification on Instagram. He wrote that on August 2, 2025, he started a new chapter of his life and confirmed his marriage. He told that the woman seen in the picture is the same woman with whom he was married.

Rashid said, “The truth is very simple. She is my wife and we do not need to hide anything.” He termed the rumors circulating on social media as “unnecessary”.

Many media reports called it Rashid’s second marriage in 10 months, while some called it evidence of a new marriage. But, after Rashid’s statement, it became clear that this picture is not of any new marriage, but of a public event with his wife.
