Veteran fast bowler Mohd Shami will now represent the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after completing a high-profile trade from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Shami, who was SRH’s second-most expensive signing at ₹10 crore during the IPL 2025 auction, moves to LSG at his existing fee.
The seasoned pacer brings immense experience and pedigree to the Lucknow franchise, having featured in 119 IPL matches across five teams since his debut in 2013. Before joining SRH, Shami was a cornerstone of the Gujarat Titans (GT) bowling attack, where he famously secured the Purple Cap in 2023claiming 28 wickets in 17 matches.
Although injury ruled him out of the IPL 2024 season, Shami played a pivotal role in GT’s title-winning campaign in 2023, where he added 20 wickets to the team’s championship run, further solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s most lethal new-ball bowlers.
With this trade, LSG have added a proven match-winner to their fast-bowling arsenal as they gear up for a crucial 2026 season.
