ICC has presented ‘Fit for Future’ roadmap in its meeting. Its aim is to promote cricket in the world and maintain the tradition of the game and strengthen it with time. In this, special attention has been paid to tournament structure, technology, better organization and big participation like Olympics.
Delhi: In the last meeting of ICC, a big special issue was discussed which was named ‘Fit for Future’. What is in it? In simple language, this is a campaign to promote cricket all over the world and create better balance. In this, cricket should develop but without changing cricket. Cricket will have to change with time without forgetting the traditions of cricket.
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta presented the strategy made in this regard before the board members in the last ICC meeting. In a way, this is ICC’s ‘master plan’ for the years ahead. Not only should better competitive matches increase in cricket, it should also increase beyond the scope of cricket and the participation of cricket fans across the world should increase further.
It was emphasized that despite all this, cricket should not change, its soul should not die, that is, there should be coordination even while adopting cultural and commercial changes. The spirit of better competition and competition in cricket has brought this game to this point and let cricket be such that top players always keep playing it.
How will all this happen? That is the roadmap. Re-examination of the format and structure of all tournaments so that they are such that not only the cricket fans stay connected with them but also the fans of new cricket also come. The organization of every tournament should be better because only a successful and better organization breaks every limit of cricket popularity in the host country.
The ICC has agreed that with this effort there should be no reduction in entertainment and audience expectations in cricket. Use of technology is also very important for the future of cricket.
The return of cricket to the Olympics i.e. cricket in the Olympics for the first time in 128 years is a change that can change cricket. With this, cricket can reach millions of new fans. Even now, talks have started on including cricket in the Brisbane 2032 programme. This is also opening up more doors and increasing cricket’s participation in regional events like the Asian, Pan-American and African Games.
That is why ICC said that cricket should be such that it is ready for the challenges of the future i.e. ‘Fit for Future’.
